DC, CPO Rawalpindi visited flood hit areas

RAWALPINDI, Jul 19 (APP):Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rawalpindi Hassan Waqar Cheema alongwith City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani on Saturday visited flood-affected areas of the city to inspect ongoing relief and rehabilitation activities.
Both the officials reviewed flood relief operation carried out in Fauji Colony, one of the most affected areas due to record rainfall this monsoon season.
The officials include MD WASA, CEO Health and Rescue 1122 were also present on the occassion.
The DC also inspected a medical camp set up for local residents and was briefed on the health services being provided to the affectees.
“Water has been drained from Fauji Colony and other affected areas,” said DC Cheema, adding that the damage caused by the floods is being estimated and full assistance will be provided to all affected families.
He confirmed that the administration has distributed relief materials in the worst-hit localities and that relief camp has also been set up in the flood-affected Milat Colony.
Section 144 has already been imposed across Rawalpindi in view of the emergency situation. “All operations are being conducted strictly according to law,” the DC stated.
He further added that an anti-encroachment operation is also underway, and illegal structures have been removed around Nallah Lai to avoid future urban flooding.
