ABBOTTABAD, Dec 25(APP): Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram Wednesday has said that while citizens have the full right to celebrate the New Year, strict action will be taken against aerial firing, one-wheeling, mixed gatherings and any activities violating the law, social values, religion and local culture.
He was chairing a meeting regarding New Year celebrations held at the Conference Room of the Deputy Commissioner Office. During the meeting, concerns raised by residents of Abbottabad were discussed in detail, particularly regarding public safety and law and order.
Issues including aerial firing, mixed events, one-wheeling and the organization of entertainment programs came under discussion. The deputy commissioner directed the district administration to take immediate action against any illegal activities and issued clear instructions to the police and concerned officers.
Citizens also identified specific locations where unauthorized programs were planned, upon which the police department was instructed to take necessary action. The DC emphasized coordinated efforts between police and district administration to ensure peaceful celebrations.
The meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), an SP representing the police department, representatives of law enforcement agencies, President of the Press Club, Pir of Tori Sharif, President and General Secretary of the All Traders Association, other traders’ representatives and local elders.
