DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Feb 17 (APP):The Pakistan Customs on Tuesday destroyed smuggled and prohibited goods worth Rs 812 million.
The destroyed items included betal nuts, cigarettes, liquor, china salt, medicines and other prohibited goods.
Addressing the ceremony, held here at Ratta Kulachi Stadium, Assistant Collector Customs Muhammad Omer Jan said the goods had been seized during various anti-smuggling operations and were being disposed of strictly in accordance with the law.
He stated that the initiative reflects Pakistan Customs’ firm resolve to curb smuggling and eliminate goods that pose a serious threat to public health and social values. “This action is not only a reaffirmation of our commitment against smuggling but also a practical step toward protecting society from harmful and illegal products,” he said.
Omer Jan added that the operation aims to prevent smuggling, safeguard legitimate trade, and protect national revenue.
The destroyed items included 60,597 kilograms of betel nut (chhalia) worth Rs 121 million, 129,472 sleeves of cigarettes valued at Rs 534.44 million, and 30,670 kilograms of Chinese salt worth Rs 50.78 million. Liquor and other narcotics worth Rs 105.905 million were also disposed of during the ceremony.
The assistant collector reiterated that strict enforcement actions against smuggling networks will continue to ensure economic stability and public safety.
