DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Oct 21 (APP): The Customs Department has destroyed seized contraband and illegal goods worth Rs1.03 billion in Dera Ismail Khan under the supervision of Deputy Collector Ayesha Bashir Wani.
During a detailed briefing, it was revealed that the confiscated goods included large quantities of betel nuts, cigarettes, China salt, and other prohibited items which were confiscated over the past three years.
According to Deputy Collector Ayesha Bashir Wani, the destroyed betel nuts weighed 283,191 kilograms, cigarettes totaled 203,100 sleeves, and China salt weighed 95,975 kilograms.
Additionally, Indian-origin medicines, gutka, naswar, and other miscellaneous goods worth Rs339.82 million were also destroyed.
The officials said the total value of all destroyed items was approximately Rs1.03 billion.
The operation was conducted with the full cooperation of various enforcement agencies.
The Customs authorities stated that the action is part of an ongoing campaign against smuggling and illegal trade aimed at protecting the national economy and discouraging unlawful business activities.
