RAWALPINDI, Nov 22 (APP):City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi on Saturday has officially launched the e-challan system through Safe City cameras, a move that is expected to enhance traffic monitoring and law enforcement across the city.
Over 2,000 cameras have been installed at 359 locations, enabling continuous surveillance of traffic movements and ensuring stricter enforcement of traffic laws.
The Safe City cameras, which are now fully operational, will not only assist in monitoring traffic flow but will also automatically issue e-challans for violations such as not wearing helmets, seat belt violations, speeding, overloading.
The e-challan system is directly connected to the Safe City Command and Control Center. In case of any violation, the e-challan, along with photographs and a violation code, will be sent to the vehicle owner’s address.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi, Farhan Aslam, stated that the introduction of Safe City cameras would help streamline traffic control while ensuring effective law enforcement.
He added that with the e-challan system in place, traffic wardens would be able to focus more on maintaining traffic flow on the roads, leading to better traffic discipline and overall improvement in traffic management.
The initiative aims to reduce traffic violations, improve road safety, and enhance overall traffic management in Rawalpindi.
