RAWALPINDI, Jan 15 (APP):City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi on Wednesday launched a crackdown against heavy vehicles including tractor trolleys, water tankers, and dumpers.
According to a spokesman, CTP on the directives of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi, Beenish Fatima had launched an operation and took action against water tankers, dumpers and other heavy vehicles plying on the roads without fitness certificates and violating traffic laws.
He informed that Traffic Wardens are taking solid steps to prevent road accidents and ensuring the safety of the road users.
CTP teams are in the field in urban and rural areas and checking heavy vehicles plying without fitness certificates and licenses or operating illegally, he said adding, action in accordance with the law is being taken against the rules violators.
The CTO has directed the officers concerned to take strict action against the rules violators and warned that negligence on part of the official concerned would not be tolerated.
CTP are giving top priority to the safety of the citizens and heavy vehicles without fitness certificates, driving licenses, careless driving, overloading and other violations are being challaned. FIRs would also be registered against the drivers and owners of the vehicles found violating traffic rules continuously, he added.
All possible steps are being taken to ensure safety of the citizens, he said and urged the drivers and owners to abide by the laws and ensure the fitness certificate of their vehicles and driving licenses of the drivers.
