RAWALPINDI, Nov 28 (APP): The City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi have launched a strict enforcement drive against vehicles using illegal gas cylinders and those involved in overloading, in a bid to prevent accidents and ensure safer travel, a spokesman said on Friday.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam directed all circle and sector in-charges to initiate firm action, stating that First Information Reports (FIRs) should be registered against vehicle owners or drivers found carrying illegal cylinders or transporting passengers and goods beyond permissible limits.
He said vehicles operating without a fitness certificate would be impounded at police stations until a valid one was issued. Action would also be taken, without exception, against vehicles posing risks to road safety.
The CTO said vehicles lacking fitness certification endangered public lives, adding that even a driver’s minor negligence or ignorance of traffic laws could lead to major accidents.
Ensuring accident-free roads and safe travel for the citizens was the CTP’s top priority, he added.
