CTO Lahore issues show-cause notices to six traffic inspectors

LAHORE, Jul 18 (APP):Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Syed Abdul Rahim Sherazi has issued show-cause notices to six traffic inspectors over poor enforcement of helmet rules.
The notices were issued to sector in-charges of Anarkali, Mozang and Garhi Shahu, among others, after the CTO inspected various areas and reviewed traffic arrangements and helmet compliance.
According to traffic police data, helmet usage on Model Roads remained at 97.11 percent. Compliance was recorded at 98.83 percent on Davis Road, 98.81 percent at Faisal Chowk, 98.63 percent near Dr Hospital, 97.53 percent on Canal View and 97.23 percent at Awari Hotel Chowk.
The CTO directed further improvement in areas with comparatively lower compliance, including Main Boulevard (92.22 percent), Jail Road Canal Bridge (90.60 percent) and Canal Ferozepur Road (90.78 percent).
Syed Abdul Rahim Sherazi said helmet use had reduced head injury cases by 40 percent, adding that 73 percent of fatalities in road accidents involved motorcycle riders. He said strict enforcement of traffic laws was aimed at protecting citizens’ lives rather than revenue collection.
