RAWALPINDI, May 30 (APP): Chief Traffic Officer Beenish Fatima on Friday directed the implementation of PITMS action plan, including anti-encroachment operations, vehicle fitness, reporting of traffic accidents, hospital visits, digital record of wardens’ attendance, installation of trackers and improvement in the licensing system within the stipulated timelines.
She was chairing a meeting here at the City Traffic Police Headquarters to review the implementation of Punjab Integrated Traffic Management System (PITMS) and the instructions of Punjab chief minister in this regard.
The meeting was attended by the senior traffic officer, deputy superintendents of police, circle officers and sector incharges.
During the meeting, public participation and feedback, behaviour of field traffic staff and steps to ensure traffic flow on roads were also discussed.
CTO Beenish Fatima stressed on the effective use of body cameras and measures such as visual evidence during challaning to ensure transparency and accountability.
She said that first information reports should be registered for serious violations such as encroachment, overloading, overspeeding, no or faulty lights, underage driving, one-way violation, and driving without helmets. A zero-tolerance policy should be adopted for all traffic law violations, she added.
The City Traffic Police Rawalpindi, she said, was not only enforcing the law under the Punjab chief minister’s mission ‘Safe Punjab’ but was also continuously providing awareness to the citizens regarding road safety.
The CTO directed the officers to submit their reports on time and devote their full energy to making the traffic system exemplary in their areas.
