CS for implantation of good governance roadmap in agriculture sector

PESHAWAR, Nov 21 (APP):Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahab Ali Shah on Friday directed implementation of various initiatives under good governance roadmap to tap vast opportunities of agriculture sector.
Chairing a review meeting on Good Governance initiatives of Agriculture Department, he said that KP has vast opportunities for growth in the agriculture sector that could be exploited by implementation of initiatives under Good Governance Roadmap.
The meeting was also attended by Secretary Agriculture and other relevant officials.
The meeting was informed that the target of grafting 150,000 olive plants in the merged districts has been successfully achieved while efforts are underway to provide farmers with modern agricultural technology, training and resources to improve their economic conditions.
Similarly, one-window operations are being carried out at 97 Farm Services Centers to provide farmers with all essential services under one roof. It was told that under various projects, 5,000 acres of barren land is being made cultivable while GIS mapping of major crops including wheat, maize, rice, sugarcane and fruits is also an important component of Government’s Good Governance Roadmap.
The CS stated that these initiatives reflect the government’s strong commitment to agricultural development and the welfare of farmers in the province.
