LAHORE, Jul 31 (APP): An anti-terrorism court on Thursday continued proceedings in the May 9 violence cases, including the arson of Shadman Police Station and the torching of vehicles of Sarwar Road Police Station.
A total of 16 witnesses were cross-examined during a hearing held at Kot Lakhpat Jail, which was presided over by Administrative Judge Manzar Ali Gul.
During the proceedings, statements of 11 witnesses in the Shadman arson case and 5 witnesses in the Sarwar Road case were cross-examined.
Advocate Burhan Moazzam Malik, representing key PTI leaders including Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, and Ejaz Chaudhry, conducted the cross-examination of all 16 witnesses. However, cross-examination of the eyewitnesses and witnesses related to the alleged May 9 conspiracy remains pending. The defence sought additional time to complete the process. Accepting the request, the court adjourned the hearing until August 2.
The trial in the Shadman arson case involves 26 accused, including Aliya Hamza, and Sanam Javed. Senior party leaders currently in custody—Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Ejaz Chaudhry, Omar Sarfraz Cheema, and Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed—are also among the accused.
