Crackdown on smog-causing brick-kilns continues

KHANEWAL, Oct 23 (APP):On the directives of Deputy Commissioner Khanewal, the Department of Environment has intensified its crackdown on brick-kilns and industrial units contributing to smog and air pollution.
Deputy Director (Environment) Engineer Sarfraz Anjum was personally supervising the ongoing operations.
During the recent actions on Thursday, Chaudhry Bricks Kiln Company, located at Chak No. 138/10-R, Tehsil Jahanian, was demolished for violating the mandatory Zigzag technology standards. In another operation, Al-Madina Bricks, situated at Chak No. 54/10-R, was fined Rs. 100,000 for non-compliance with environmental regulations.
The Deputy Director Environment stated that the Environment Protection Department’s teams were conducting daily inspections and enforcement drives against all brick kilns and industrial units causing air pollution. He reaffirmed that strict legal action will continue without exception to ensure clean air and to effectively reduce smog in the region.
