Crackdown on passenger transport violations launched in DIKhan
Dera Ismail Khan , Sep 09 (APP):Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Dera Shaukat Iqbal, along with Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Traffic, has launched a crackdown against passenger vehicles involved in overcharging, carrying excess passengers, using pressure horns and operating with non-functional air conditioners on various routes.
During inspections, several vehicles were impounded and heavy fines imposed on violators. Excess fares collected from passengers were also refunded on the spot, while legal proceedings were initiated against those found violating transport rules.
The RTA secretary said the action was aimed at ensuring strict implementation of the approved fare schedule, protecting passengers’ safety and ensuring provision of essential travel facilities.
He warned that indiscriminate action would continue against transporters violating prescribed fares, passenger capacity, noise regulations and air-conditioning requirements.
