CPWB,Human Appeal signs MoU to provide vocational skills to children

LAHORE, Dec 30 (APP):The Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) and Human Appeal,a UK-based international NGO,on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at equipping children residing at the bureau with vocational and professional skills to promote self-reliance and economic empowerment.
According to a spokesperson,the MoU was signed by CPWB Chairperson Sarah Ahmad and Country Director Human Appeal Dawood Saqlain.Under the agreement,Human Appeal will provide skill-based training to children living at the bureau to help them become independent and self-sufficient.
Speaking on the occasion,CPWB Chairperson Sarah Ahmad said that children would be trained in various vocational fields, including graphic designing, cooking and plumbing.
She said the initiative was designed to empower vulnerable children through practical skills that could help them secure respectable livelihoods in the future.
She added that concrete steps would also be taken to provide employment opportunities to boys and girls who successfully complete the training courses.“Our objective is to enable children of the bureau to stand on their own feet through education and skill development,”she said.
Sarah Ahmad said that the Child Protection Bureau was committed to creating pathways for education, skills and self-reliance for orphaned, abandoned and destitute children.
She noted that several children residing at the bureau had already secured jobs after acquiring vocational skills from different institutions.
Later,the chairperson also inaugurated a canteen established at the Child Protection Bureau with the support of Human Appeal NGO. The facility aims to improve welfare and daily living arrangements for children at the bureau.
Following the signing ceremony,the Human Appeal delegation was given a detailed tour of various sections of the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau to familiarize them with its operations and services.
The collaboration marks an important step towards strengthening child protection initiatives through public-private partnership, focusing on sustainable rehabilitation and long-term empowerment of vulnerable children.
