RAWALPINDI, Jul 03 (APP):City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani, along with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hassan Waqar Cheema, visited the main route of the 7th Muharram procession to review security arrangements.
According to a police spokesperson, senior officials including SP Rawal, SP Headquarters, SDPOs, and ADCG were also present on the occasion.
The CPO personally reviewed security arrangements and gave instructions to the concerned officials.
They also visited the Safe City Control Room and inspected the monitoring system. Over 3,500 police personnel will be deployed for the security of the main procession on 7th Muharram.
In addition, more than 8,000 officers including traffic wardens will be on duty throughout Muharram to maintain law and order and manage traffic.
More than 2,000 CCTV cameras installed under the Safe City project will monitor all processions and their routes.
CPO Hamdani said that walk-through gates will be installed at all entry points, and all participants will go through a full body search before entering the procession.
He added that the roads and streets around the procession routes have been sealed, and the entire route is being searched in advance as part of the security protocol.
He further said that the code of conduct issued by the Punjab government is being strictly followed, and all instructions from the Punjab Chief Minister and Inspector General of Police are being implemented for foolproof security, he added.
“All possible measures put in place to ensure peace and safety during Muharram,” the CPO stated.
