LAHORE, Sep 04 (APP):A local court on Wednesday sent former bureaucrat and analyst Orya Maqbool Jan to jail on a 14-day judicial remand in a case related to spreading religious hatred.
Earlier, the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing produced the analyst before Judicial Magistrate Imran Abid in the district courts.
The investigation officer informed the court that Orya Maqbool Jan had been arrested in a new case of spreading religious hatred through social media and that his custody was required for further investigation. He requested the court to grant physical remand of the accused.
However, the judicial magistrate denied the request for physical remand and sent the analyst to jail on a 14-day judicial remand, ordering his production upon the expiration of the remand term.
The FIA Cyber Crime Wing registered a new case against the analyst on charges of spreading religious hatred.
Meanwhile, Orya Maqbool Jan has approached the Lahore High Court for bail in a Cyber Crime case, registered by the FIA on charges of making statements against institutions, following the dismissal of his post-arrest bail in the matter by a sessions court a day ago.
