Court awards death penalty to 3 in double murder case

MUZAFFARGARH , Jan 08 (APP):In a landmark verdict in the judicial history of Karor Lal Eesan, a local court on Wednesday awarded death sentences to three accused, including two real brothers, in a high-profile double murder case involving the killing of fasting victims.
According to police sources, Additional Sessions Judge Imran Safdar announced the judgment in a case registered at Fatehpur Police Station. The court awarded the death penalty to Mujahid, Shahid and Sikandar for murdering two persons over a property dispute.
The court also sentenced four other accused — Ehsan Ullah, Usman Ali, Ejaz Ahmed and Bilawal — to five years’ imprisonment each for their involvement in the case.
Meanwhile, another accused, Mukhtiar Ahmed, was awarded two years of rigorous imprisonment.
The prosecution stated that the accused, following a dispute over a boundary wall, opened fire within the limits of Fatehpur Police Station, resulting in the killing of two persons and injuries to two others.
The verdict was hailed by the victims’ families as a major step towards justice after a prolonged legal process.
