Court awards death penalty in blind murder case; DIG lauds police team for effective investigation

ISLAMABAD, Jun 03 (APP):A local court has awarded the death penalty to a suspect involved in a blind murder case, while two co-accused were sentenced to two years in prison and fined for tampering with evidence, following the effective investigation and prosecution efforts by Islamabad Police.
An official told APP on Tuesday that the case was registered at Koral Police Station under FIR No. 1673/22 pertaining to the blind murder of citizen Faisal Ilyas. The investigation team employed all available technical and human resources to trace and apprehend the accused.
He said the police arrested three suspects—Arbab Khaleel, Farooq Azam, and Moazzam—and collected concrete evidence against them. A complete challan was submitted to the competent court, which conducted a full trial.
He said the court found all three suspects guilty. Arbab Khaleel was sentenced to death along with a fine, while Farooq Azam and Moazzam were each sentenced to two years in prison and fined for attempting to destroy evidence.
