Court asks FIA to investigate money laundering charges against health official

HYDERABAD, Oct 25 (APP):The Special Court Anti Corruption (Central) has directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to start a probe into the allegations of embezzlement of public funds and money laundering against a health official.
According to details, the inquiry order was given on the complaint of advocate Sarmad Sattar Laghari against a doctor who had been serving on administrative positions in Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) for many years.
Laghari claimed that the health official had set up an offshore private company in the UK, adding that the company in question had been used to misappropriate Rs947 million from the public funds.
The court asked Director FIA Hyderabad to initiate an inquiry and to submit a report by the next date of hearing scheduled for November 10.
