Cotton arrivals cross 5.49m bales by Jan 15

MULTAN, Jan 18 (APP):Seed cotton (phutti) equivalent to 5.49 million bales reached ginning factories across Pakistan by January 15, 2026,showing a marginal increase of 0.13 per cent compared to the same period last year.
According to a fortnightly report of the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) released on Sunday,over 5.4 million bales have been processed and converted into lint.
Punjab recorded cotton arrivals of 2,586,229 bales,a decline of 3.73 percent compared to 2,686,521 bales during the corresponding period last year.
In contrast,Sindh reported arrivals of 2,910,723 bales,registering an increase of 3.83 percent from 2,803,297 bales last year.Cotton arrivals in Balochistan stood at 178,860 bales.
During the period under review,exporters and traders purchased 176,000 bales,while the textile sector bought 4,841,643 bales.
The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) did not procure any cotton during the 2025–26 season,the report said.
The PCGA report further noted that 479,309 bales remained unsold,while a total of 127 ginning factories were operational across the country.
