SARGODHA, Dec 06 (APP): Commissioner Sargodha Division Jahanzeb Awan on Saturday ordered strict enforcement of the ‘Suthra Punjab’ cleanliness program, announcing surprise inspections starting next week and warning that officials found negligent would be dismissed on the spot.
He issued these directives while presiding over a high-level meeting to review the performance of the Sargodha Waste Management Company (SWMC) and the overall cleanliness situation in the district.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Captain (Retd) Waseem, CEO SWMC Rana Shahid Imran, Assistant Commissioners, Tehsil Managers, and other relevant officers.
Commissioner Awan made it clear that zero tolerance would be shown toward negligence. “If sanitation conditions in any Union Council are found unsatisfactory, the respective UC Monitor will be removed immediately,” he warned.
He further stated that strict action would also be taken against Tehsil Managers in the event of repeated complaints from their areas.
The Commissioner announced that he would personally conduct surprise visits to urban and rural localities starting next week to assess cleanliness conditions firsthand.
Regarding administrative reforms, he said that although the transition to a new district-based model for SWMC was in progress, both field operations and monitoring must remain uninterrupted. He directed that all urban and rural areas be cleaned daily and that the transition process be executed transparently within the given timeline.
Earlier, CEO SWMC Rana Shahid Imran briefed the meeting on operational and administrative matters and assured that additional measures were being implemented to further improve the district’s sanitation system.
