MULTAN, Feb 11 (APP):Commissioner Multan and Chairman of the Board of Governors at Multan Public School (MPS), Amir Karim Khan, on Wednesday unveiled an initiative to transform MPS into a modern center of academic excellence. The focus is on improving teaching standards, learning outcomes, and career development for students.
In a ceremony at MPS, the commissioner emphasized that passion, intention, and commitment were essential for success in education. He acknowledged that despite MPS’s vast resources, including 170 acres of land, the school had not reached its full potential. Past efforts had focused too much on infrastructure and not enough on academic quality and student development.
Having personally visited both campuses, the commissioner noted that the school’s academic standards and communication skills were not on par with its reputation. He stressed the need for immediate academic reform, as parents expect their children to excel, not just pass time.
To address these challenges, the commissioner announced an MoU with the Chughtai Institute of Leadership and Learning (CILL) to launch a six-month academic improvement program. This will focus on teacher capacity building, leadership development, academic diagnostics, and career counselling.
Dr. Mariam Chughtai, CEO of CILL, emphasized the need to move away from rote learning and prepare students for the future job market by developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. She noted that CILL works with various institutions to align education with global requirements.
Amir Karim Khan outlined that the reform process would begin with a diagnostic assessment of the school’s challenges, followed by targeted interventions. He stressed that the transformation of MPS is a shared responsibility among board members, staff, and administrators, and called on everyone to seize this opportunity for change.
While six months may not fully transform the school, the commissioner expressed confidence that it would lay a strong foundation for future success, thanking board member Hussain Fazal and CILL for their support.
