SARGODHA, Nov 03 (APP):Commissioner Sargodha Jahanzeb Awan on Monday took notice of burning crop residues incidents, in motorway areas of Bhera and Kot Momin.
Acting on the reports, the Commissioner directed the respective Assistant Commissioners to take immediate action against those responsible, says a news release.
Following the orders, teams from the offices of Assistant Commissioner Bhera and Agriculture Director reached the sites and took prompt action.
Near Bhera Service Area, two locations were found where residues were burned over 4 acres of land, leading to fines totaling Rs 60,000.
Similarly, in Tehsil Kot Momin, two farmers were fined Rs 135,000 for burning crop residues on 9 acres.
The divisional administration warned that no leniency would be shown towards violators. Strict measures were being enforced to prevent air pollution and safeguard the environment.
Authorities reaffirmed that legal action would continue indiscriminately against anyone found guilty of such environmental offenses.
