SUKKUR, Oct 21 (APP): Divisional Commissioner Sukkur, Abid Saleem Qureshi, arrived at the SRSO Complex here on Tuesday. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Sindh Rural Support Organisation (SRSO), Muhammad Dittal Kalhoro, welcomed him. On this occasion, CEO SRSO gave Commissioner Sukkur Division, Abid Saleem Qureshi, a detailed tour of the SRSO’s Administration Unit, Craft Production Unit, Training Wing, and other various sections. Along with his staff, he also provided detailed briefing to Commissioner Sukkur about SRSO’s work across the Sukkur region and throughout Sindh.
CEO Muhammad Dittal Kalhoro gave a briefing about various responsibilities, including empowering women from underprivileged classes, establishing handicraft centers in different cities, providing interest-free micro-loans to deserving people on easy installments, and SRSO’s role in constructing houses for flood affectees under the Sindh government’s SPHF program across the province.
Commissioner Sukkur appreciated SRSO’s work and said that SRSO gaining the community’s trust is a major achievement. He also stated that providing interest-free loans to people from underprivileged populations through SRSO with the support of the Sindh government is an excellent facility helping people become self-reliant.
On this occasion, Commissioner Sukkur Division Abid Saleem Qureshi asked CEO SRSO for the organization’s voluntary role, alongside its regular work and in collaboration with the administration, in public awareness campaigns. This includes participation in EPI, Polio, and Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination efforts, highlighting the importance of acquiring education in rural areas, and promoting appropriate birth spacing as part of the government’s family planning program. On the Commissioner’s social welfare proposal, the CEO SRSO assured its implementation.
During the visit, Commissioner Sukkur inspected the home made work by women artisans, including Sindhi topi, Ajrak, Lungi, embroidered clothing, and other attractive handicraft items made by women and said that all these handcrafted items are a tremendous expression of the immense talent of women in rural areas. He also praised the building’s beautification, greenery, cleanliness, and the monitoring system at the SRSO Complex.
At the end, CEO SRSO presented him a gift of a beautiful Ajrak, and a souvenir.
