Commissioner seeks plan for new parks in city
MULTAN, Sep 22 (APP):Commissioner Multan Division Aamir Kareem Khan on Tuesday directed the Horticulture Agency to prepare a comprehensive plan for establishing new parks in Multan to provide enhanced recreational facilities to citizens.
Chairing a meeting on the proposed new parks, the Commissioner said the plan should include playgrounds, recreational games, family areas, washrooms and other essential facilities, with special focus on safe and separate recreational spaces for women, children and families.
He directed that existing playgrounds should not be eliminated; rather, wherever possible, they should be upgraded with improved facilities and made fully functional for public use.
The Commissioner said the need for parks should be assessed according to population ratios and priorities set accordingly. He directed the Horticulture Agency to prepare a complete plan for establishing new parks and improving existing green spaces and submit it to the Punjab government.
He further said plantation, green belts, walking tracks and sports facilities should form an integral part of park planning, stressing the need to provide maximum public spaces for healthy activities, particularly for children and youth.
Managing Director Horticulture Agency Syed Waseem Hassan gave a detailed briefing on the establishment of nine new parks in the city.
