Sargodha, Jun 27 (APP):Commissioner Sargodha Jahanzaib Awan on Friday visited the under-constructed project of Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology (NSIC) and reviewed the recently completed Out Patient Department (OPD), which has been made functional on a trial basis.
According to Commissioner office spokesperson, the OPD has been running on a trial basis for last week, providing services to around 50 patients daily. Two cardiologists were currently providing services and modern facilities such as ECG, ETT, echo and holter monitoring have been activated.
On the occasion, Sargodha Medical College Principle, Dr. Waris Farooq informed the commissioner that the recruitment process for 16 cardiologists was underway and arrangements were being made for the supply of medicines.
He also informed that the hospital’s processes have been made paperless, ensuring efficient service delivery.
The engineers briefed the commissioner on the construction progress, stating that 77 percent of the main building’s work has been completed and one out of three lifts has been made functional. “State-of-the-art machinery has also been installed in the hospital”, they added.
The commissioner was informed that the NSIC will be an autonomous institution, functioning under its own Board of Governors and Chief Executive Officer. Plans were being made to officially inaugurate the OPD in the second week of next month.
Commissioner Jahanzeb directed that the construction work should be completed as soon as possible to ensure the provision of complete facilities to citizens.
He appreciated the progress made so far and emphasized the importance of timely completion.
