LAHORE, Oct 21 (APP):Commissioner Lahore Division Marryam Khan on Tuesday visited the Theme Park Society to review post-flood rehabilitation and clearance operations.
During her visit, AC Raiwind Zohaib Ahmed and WASA DMD Abdul Latif briefed the commissioner on ongoing efforts. She met residents of the society and listened to their concerns, directing WASA to intensify drainage and cleanup work. She also sought a detailed plan to resolve other civic issues faced by residents.
Commissioner Marryam Khan said that out of 34 blocks in the Theme Park Society, 31 are fully cleared, two are 98 percent clear, and drainage work is underway in one block. She noted that roads are open, movement is normal, and 99 percent of residents have returned to their homes. Joint teams are using different mechanisms to complete the drainage in the remaining area, she added.
She further said that cleaning, sweeping, and anti-dengue spray operations are ongoing, with sanitation workers removing garbage and mud in shifts using heavy machinery. The Commissioner recalled that during the recent floods, more than 6,300 kanals of the society were submerged under 18–20 feet of water.
Commissioner Marryam Khan said that under the Chief Minister’s instructions, the Government of Punjab stands with every resident until their complete rehabilitation. “InshaAllah, the final block of the Theme Park Society will also be cleared very soon,” she said.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Marryam Khan paid a surprise visit to various areas of Sheikhupura to review the implementation of the “Suthra Punjab” program. She inspected cleanliness and anti-encroachment operations, directed strict field monitoring, and ordered 100 percent staff attendance. She said Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif is taking practical steps for city beautification and better civic facilities, urging officials to stay fully active in the field.
