SARGODHA, Nov 11 (APP):Commissioner Jehanzeb Awan chaired a meeting on Tuesday to review preventive measures against environmental pollution and smog, particularly in stone crushing areas like Pull 3.
According to a spokesperson from the Commissioner’s office, the meeting included officers from various relevant departments who discussed in detail the causes of smog and potential control measures in the stone crushing zones.
The Commissioner highlighted that activities in stone crushing areas are a significant contributor to air pollution and smog formation. He issued clear directives to ensure strict monitoring and enforcement, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy against all sources of pollution in these areas.
He stressed the importance of compliance with environmental regulations at all crushing sites and instructed that regular water sprinkling be carried out to suppress dust. He also directed the deployment of staff to manage dust dispersion, ensuring that spray systems remain functional around machinery. Additionally, crushed material must be covered during transportation to prevent the spread of airborne particles.
Jehanzeb Awan further instructed that the Environment Department, Mines Department, and District Administration collaborate to supervise these activities effectively. He also ordered that water sprinkling be done on surrounding roads to mitigate the effects of dust and pollution on the public.
