SUKKUR, Nov 18 (APP): Divisional Commissioner Sukkur, Abid Saleem Qureshi on Tuesday visited the Government Lady Willingdon Hospital in Khairpur to review the ongoing vaccination campaign for the prevention of Measles and Rubella diseases.
He was accompanied by District Health Officer Khairpur Dr. Masroor Shah, Assistant Commissioner Khairpur Arsalan Phulpoto, PS to Commissioner Ghulam Ali Chandio, and others.
Commissioner Sukkur sought information from the designated staff at the hospital’s vaccination center about the vaccination process and the vaccinated children.
He was informed that parents are cooperating positively for the vaccination.
The vaccination team reported that on the first day of the campaign, more than 350 children aged 6 months to 5 years were vaccinated.
Additionally, supplementary polio drops are also being administered to children from birth up to 5 years of age.
On this occasion, Commissioner Sukkur directed the hospital administration that since the hospital is located in the middle of the city, two personnel should be deployed at the hospital’s entrance to provide awareness and guidance to people for easy access to the hospital’s vaccination center.
This is to prevent crowding due to people and vehicles, which could cause traffic flow problems for the general public.
Later, Commissioner Sukkur, along with DHO Sukkur Dr. Ali Gul Shah, Deputy DHO Dr. Tanveer Abbasi, and WHO Consultant Dr. Mahmood Ali, also visited the vaccination center at IBA Public School Sukkur and obtained information from the vaccination team.
The Principal of Public School, Ali Gohar Chang, was also present on this occasion.
Commissioner was informed that on the first day of the campaign, more than 400 children of the public school were vaccinated against Measles and Rubella, and it is expected that all children will be covered by November 29.
On this occasion, he also directed the DHO Sukkur to ensure a continuous monitoring process, successfully execute the vaccination campaign according to the micro-plan, and obtain performance reports of the teams on a daily basis.
