Sargodha, Jun 26 (APP): Commissioner Sargodha Jahanzeb Awan on Thursday visited various areas of city and reviewed the ongoing emergency drainage operations after the heavy rainfall at night.
According to Commissioner office spokesperson here, the commissioner visited low-lying areas and supervised the drainage operations, ensuring immediate action to drain water and deploy additional machinery and manpower.
During his visit, the Commissioner interacted with citizens, listened to their problems and informed them about the steps being taken by the Punjab government for a permanent solution to sewage and drainage issues.
He assured the public that a modern master plan for drainage and sewerage is underway, which includes upgrading the old system and installing modern drainage systems.
On the occasion, the officers accompanying the Commissioner, including CCO Municipal Corporation Majid bin Ahmed and CEO Solid Waste Management Company Rana Shahid Imran, briefed him on the emergency response efforts. They reported that field staff was mobilized immediately after the rainfall and jet machines, skir pumps and water bowsers are being used to drain water from drains, streets, and roads.
The Commissioner directed the institutions to be fully alert in view of the expected rains in the coming days, ensuring all complaints are redressed immediately and maintaining a strong presence in the field. He emphasized that public relief is the top priority and warned against any negligence.
