LAHORE, Dec 01 (APP): Commissioner Lahore Division Maryam Khan visited Kasur district on Monday to review progress on the Clean City Mission being implemented across all districts of Lahore Division under the directives of Chief Minister Punjab.
She inspected sanitation arrangements, road washing operations, and ongoing development works aimed at improving municipal services and environmental conditions.
During her visit, the Commissioner examined cleanliness operations in various areas and directed the district administration to further strengthen monitoring mechanisms. She noted that, as per instructions, waste from open areas and vacant plots had been removed, and emphasised that private vacant spaces should be cleared once and owners held responsible if waste accumulates again. She also instructed that regular water sprinkling on roads be adopted as a permanent feature to maintain cleanliness and reduce smog.
Commissioner Maryam Khan inspected the ongoing construction of a drainage channel in Tehsil Kasur Mustafaabad, a project aimed at providing a permanent solution to local sewerage challenges. She sought a clear deadline for its completion from the administration, while Deputy Commissioner Kasur briefed her on the Hali Road–Mustafaabad development scheme.
The Commissioner also visited residential streets in Mustafaabad and directed officials to ensure immediate lifting of waste after drain-cleaning operations. She further instructed that all open spaces in the tehsil be cleared and linked with tree plantation measures.
Commissioner Maryam Khan said the Clean City Mission is not limited to Lahore; instead, it is being implemented across all districts of the Lahore Division with equal priority. She added that cleanliness is a top focus of the Chief Minister and that the “Suthra Punjab” initiative is actively contributing to improving citizens’ quality of life. She noted that road washing in Kasur city is underway and will contribute to reducing pollution and smog.
To promote environmental protection and urban beautification, the Commissioner launched a plantation drive by planting a sapling at Baba Kamal Chishti Chowk. She stressed that tree plantation is essential for combating pollution and enhancing the natural beauty of cities, directing the administration to run an extensive plantation campaign under the Clean and Green Mission.
