Commissioner reviews arrangements for Muharram

BAHAWALPUR, Jun 17 (APP):Commissioner Musarrat Jabeen chaired a meeting of the Divisional Peace Committee to review arrangements for Majalis-e-Aza and processions during Muharram-ul-Haram.
The commissioner said stated that foolproof security arrangements should be ensured for the routes of Muharram processions and Majalis. She directed administrative officers to ensure cleanliness arrangements and availability of other facilities on the routes of Majalis and Muharram processions. Regional Police Officer Rai Babar Saeed, Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Dr. Farhan Farooq, DPO Muhammad Hassan Iqbal, officers of relevant departments, and via video link, Deputy Commissioners of Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan, DPOs of Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan, along with members of the Peace Committee and Presidents of Anjuman-e-Tajiran (Trader Unions) from all three districts participated in the meeting.
The commissioner Division said that better cleanliness arrangements should be made on the routes and officers and staff of MEPCO, Sui Gas, and other relevant departments should work actively during Muharram days. RPO Rai Babar Saeed said that CCTV cameras would monitor Muharram procession routes and Majalis locations.
The meeting was informed that arrangements have been completed in Bahawalpur division for 1409 Majalis and 514 processions. Over 17,000 police personnel will perform duties during Ashura, and companies of the Army and Rangers will also be deployed on security duties from 7th to 10th Muharram. Members of the Peace Committee from all three districts assured full cooperation in maintaining peace and order.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, including District Police Officer Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, and Rahim Yar Khan, gave a briefing on security arrangements and other matters.
