LAHORE, Dec 15 (APP):Commissioner Lahore Division Marryam Khan has directed district administrations across the division to launch a strict crackdown on violations of the one-dish policy and ensure zero tolerance, instructing assistant commissioners to personally conduct night-time field visits to monitor compliance.
She also emphasized strict enforcement of cleanliness measures under the “Suthra Punjab” initiative in line with the Punjab government’s directives.
The directions were issued while presiding over a divisional meeting to review performance regarding cleanliness, Suthra Punjab operations and enforcement against one-dish violations, here on Monday. Deputy commissioners of all four districts of Lahore Division, Director General Suthra Punjab Authority Babar Sahibdin and other senior officers attended the meeting.
The Commissioner directed the district administration and Suthra Punjab Authority to ensure cleanliness at petrol pumps and public washrooms, clearly identify temporary waste collection points and complete desilting operations in an effective manner. She also ordered strict monitoring of attendance of sanitation staff and directed that cleanliness schedules be prominently displayed in rural areas to ensure transparency and accountability.
Director General Suthra Punjab Authority Babar Sahibdin gave a comprehensive briefing on the anti-littering campaign and enforcement measures. He informed the meeting that a large-scale awareness and enforcement campaign was being launched involving citizens, shopkeepers and industrial units. He added that fines would be imposed for dumping garbage outside designated sites, while penalties and legal action would also be taken against littering at unauthorized locations and burning of waste.
Reviewing the availability of sanitation machinery and human resources in district and tehsil headquarters, Commissioner Marryam Khan said that Chief Minister Punjab’s instructions regarding the implementation of a “uniform cleanliness standard” across all cities were clear, adding that the chief minister’s priority was the provision of complete municipal services to citizens without discrimination.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Lahore Syed Musa Raza, Additional Commissioner Dr Muhammad Akbar, Deputy Commissioner Sheikhupura Shahid Imran Marth, Deputy Commissioner Nankana Sahib Rao Tasleem Akhtar, Deputy Commissioner Kasur Asif Raza and other officials concerned.
