ABBOTTABAD, Nov 18 (APP):Commissioner Hazara Division Fayaz Ali Shah chaired an important meeting on Tuesday to review progress on the demolition of fully compensated houses under the Dasu Hydropower Project.
During the briefing, Deputy Commissioner Upper Kohistan Tariq Khan and the General Manager of the Dasu Hydropower Project reported that resistance at certain locations and technical challenges had affected the pace of demolition. However, they assured that the process would be completed within the approved timeline.
To fast-track the work and resolve issues on the spot, the commissioner directed the establishment of a coordination committee comprising the District Police Officer Upper Kohistan, the Director General Social Safeguard of the Dasu Project, and a representative nominated by the Deputy Commissioner. The committee will ensure immediate action on field-level obstacles.
Commissioner Fayaz Ali Shah instructed the Deputy Commissioner to submit a progress report every three days, while the Commissioner’s Office will prepare a weekly report for submission to the Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He emphasized that all structures and lands for which full compensation has been paid must be demolished without delay, adding that no hindrance would be tolerated in this regard.
The commissioner highlighted that the development projects underway in Kohistan are of national importance. Their timely completion, he said, would benefit future generations and significantly contribute to strengthening Pakistan’s economy.
