Mirpurkhas, Sep 18 (APP):Commissioner Mirpurkhas Division Faisal Ahmed Uqaili took notice of increasing malaria cases throughout the division here on Monday.
According to the Commissioner’s office, a meeting was held here on the increasing Malaria cases, where he expressed concern and took notice of this issue, while it was decided that from today to spray against malaria and dengue throughout the division.
He directed the District Health Officer Mirpurkhas Dr. Jai Ram Das to make the wards established in the hospitals active in terms of prevention of malaria and dengue throughout the district.
The hospital staff should be alerted and whatever requirements there are related to the prevention of malaria should also be reported, he added.
He directed the Municipal Commissioner Rafiq Ahmed Sehar to issue a malaria and dengue prevention schedule to all the Town Chairmen on behalf of the Municipal Corporation and start spraying under their supervision from today in their respective UCs, adding that spraying will also be started in Tharparkar and Umerkot districts.
He also directed Deputy Commissioner Mirpurkhas Dr. Rasheed Masood to instruct all respective Assistant Commissioners to ensure the spraying of malaria and dengue in their respective tehsils along with the town chairman.
On this occasion, District Health Officer Mirpurkhas Dr. Jai Ram Das, giving details, said that 5250 malaria test samples were taken by the health department in the month of August, adding that 111 health centers have been activated across the district, some of which are private and under the supervision of PPHI, apart from this, there are 30 health centers which are working from 9 am to 8 pm.
He said, 25,000 mosquito nets have been distributed in the community with the help of 826 lady health workers and 36 lady health supervisors, and spraying work is carried out by the Health Department as well as the Local Government Department.
