Commissioner Lasbela Division distributes wheelchairs among disabled children
QUETTA, Sep 22 (APP):Commissioner Lasbela Division Saira Atta on Tuesday distributed wheelchairs among disabled children and also presented them with cash rewards from her own resources.
She said that if a person adopts the right mindset, no force in the world could keep them from achieving success.
She emphasized that individuals with physical disabilities should not succumb to despair but would instead embark on a new chapter of life with courage and determination.
She made these remarks while addressing a dignified ceremony held in Winder to distribute wheelchairs to persons with disabilities from the Lasbela-Hub district.
The Commissioner noted that a young woman with a disability a software engineer has emerged as a role model and a source of pride for Pakistan.
She expressed a desire to provide children with disabilities in his province with the same opportunities available to their counterparts in other provinces ranging from access to technical education to the chance to excel as athletes.
The Commissioner said that special measures are being taken in this regard under the directives of Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti. She also distributed wheelchairs to the children with disabilities and also presented them with cash rewards from her own resources.
Local dignitaries, volunteers from welfare organizations, and administrative officials attended the event.
Javed Raees, founder of the Disabled Welfare Association Karachi, delivered the opening remarks.
He paid tribute to the visionary spirit of the Lasbela Division Commissioner for patronizing the program and noted that the association is currently providing vocational and technical training to persons with disabilities across 18 centers in Pakistan.
He mentioned that the first university for persons with disabilities is being established in Karachi with the support of the Chief Minister of Sindh, and highlighted that a five percent job quota is reserved for persons with disabilities in Sindh.
He concluded by stating that the Commissioner of Lasbela Division possesses a visionary mindset, implementing the job quota for persons with disabilities, a move initiated immediately following the Commissioner’s appointment marks a historic step by the Government of Balochistan.
He said that in the first phase of this collaborative effort with the administration, 25 wheelchairs are being distributed to persons with disabilities at today’s ceremony.
He said that it was also announced that events would be organized in the Lasbela Division on December 3rd the International Day of Persons with Disabilities with the support of the Balochistan government.
He said that furthermore, the organization would work alongside the Lasbela Division administration to facilitate the rehabilitation and physiotherapy of persons with disabilities.
Dr. Ghulam Qadir Angaria, a volunteer with the organization, hailed the administration’s efforts and the collaboration with the Disabled Welfare Association Karachi and the Pakistan Independent Living Centre as significant milestones.
He stated that registration has commenced for persons with disabilities (aged 8 to 40) in Winder, Uthal, and Bela (Balochistan), with 250 individuals already registered.
