LAHORE, Jan 03 (APP):Commissioner Marryam Khan has issued strict instructions to the district administration to ensure law and order during the upcoming three-day Safe Basant festival in Lahore, scheduled for February 6β8, 2026.
Chairing a meeting here on Saturday, the commissioner directed authorities to take immediate action against any violation of dates or laws related to kite flying.
She emphasised that no kite flying would be permitted in the district before February 6, and motorcycles without safety wires or rods would not be allowed on city roads during the festival. To ensure public safety, one million safety rods will be installed on motorcycles across 100 designated camps.
She further said that sales of kites and kite-flying materials in Lahore will be permitted only from February 1 to February 8 through registered manufacturers, traders, and sellers using the E-Biz online registration system. All registered entities must display their NOCs prominently.
Commissioner Marryam Khan said all government departments, district administration, and police would fully cooperate to ensure a safe festival, while citizens would also play a key role in maintaining safety.
The meeting was attended by DC Lahore Syed Musa Raza, Director Development Javed Chauhan, DG Walled City Authority Najm-ul-Saqib, ADC G Muhammad Zakharf, AC G Wajeeha Samreen, AC City Rai Babar, and District Secretary Transport Rana Mohsin.
