NAWABSHAH, Sep 14 (APP): Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Division, Nadeem Ahmed Abro, has issued a notification imposing a 15-day ban on grazing livestock, public movement, swimming, bathing and recreational activities in the riverine areas and along the banks of the Indus River amid the prevailing flood situation.
According to the notification, rescue and relief operations will remain exempt from the ban. The police department has been directed to take legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code against those violating the order.
The notification was issued on the recommendation by Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad, Abdul Samad Nizamani, who highlighted the increasing risks posed by the rising water levels of Indus River. He pointed out that herders often take their livestock into the riverine belt, endangering not only their own lives but also the lives of others. Notification said that in view of these threats to human life and livestock, the authorities have enforced the ban for 15 days to ensure public safety.
