HYDERABAD, Jul 29 (APP):A review meeting regarding the performance of the polio campaign was held today at Shahbaz Building, Hyderabad, under the chairmanship of Commissioner Hyderabad Division Fayaz Hussain Abbasi.
The meeting was attended by EOC Sindh Coordinator Irshad Sodhar, all Deputy Commissioners of the division, District Health Officers (DHOs), and other relevant officials.
During the session, all Deputy Commissioners and DHOs gave detailed briefings to the Commissioner about the situation in their respective districts, their performance in the polio campaign, the challenges faced, and the measures taken for polio eradication.
On the occasion, Commissioner Fayaz Hussain Abbasi said that the Sindh government takes the polio issue very seriously, and even the Chief Minister of Sindh personally participates in polio-related meetings. He said that the Deputy Commissioners have gained considerable expertise through consistent work on polio, and now districts should learn from each other’s effective strategies.
He further stated that every Deputy Commissioner must have complete knowledge of their district’s situation. “Until we work at the grassroots level, we will not achieve results,” he added. He emphasized the importance of holding daily meetings, conducting virtual interviews, and analyzing campaign outcomes after each round.
The Commissioner said that the success of the polio campaign is based on regular immunization, which requires extraordinary effort. Whether it’s preparing micro-plans or replacing teams, improvement is essential at every level to ensure that every child receives the two drops of the polio vaccine.
He stressed the need to focus especially on union councils with poor performance and to review operational failures. “We must continue our tradition of excellent performance,” he added.
On this occasion, EOC Sindh Coordinator Irshad Sodhar, while addressing the meeting, said that Hyderabad’s performance is commendable, which is the result of the hard work of the Deputy Commissioner and his team. He emphasized the need to maintain this consistency.
He also mentioned that Chief Secretaries participate in every polio meeting held at the Prime Minister’s office, and all focus remains on eradicating the disease. Due to these efforts, we are now preventing cases even in border areas.
