Commissioner for swift action on public utility issues

PESHAWAR, Dec 22 (APP): Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Motasim Billah Shah chaired a detailed review meeting on Monday to assess public service delivery under the District Governance Roadmap, emphasizing prompt resolution of basic civic issues.
The session opened with a prayer for the martyrs of the armed forces, police and other security agencies who laid down their lives defending the country, said a press release issued here.
The meeting brought together senior citizens and community leaders from Kohat city and surrounding areas, along with the mayors of Gumbat and Lachi, focal persons of MNA and MPAs, DPO Kohat, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance), representatives from WAPDA, OGDCL, WSSC, TMA, civil society and various religious and social groups.
While participants lauded the initiatives under the Governance Roadmap for improving public service delivery.
They voiced strong concerns over the unannounced electricity and gas load-shedding and shortages of drinking water in both urban and peripheral areas.
Community leaders warned that failure by relevant departments to address these issues promptly could trigger protests at multiple levels.
To improve coordination and facilitate access across departments, the meeting resolved to form a committee comprising WAPDA, Gas authorities, WSSC, TMA, and community elders. Commissioner Shah will personally visit affected areas alongside community representatives to ensure lasting solutions.
Speaking at the meeting, Shah thanked the community leaders for their cooperation and reiterated that providing citizens with quality services remained the top priority, directing all departments to take immediate action to resolve complaints.
