FAISALABAD, Feb 03 (APP): Under the ongoing inspection of fire safety arrangements in high-rise buildings, Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar visited various multi-story buildings and checked the safety measures here on Tuesday.
He went to Sitara Tower, MTM Buildings and the State Bank of Pakistan Building on Bilal Road.
He expressed dismay over the parking of motorcycles and vehicles along with fire extinguishers in the basement of Sitara Tower and MTM Tower and instructed that such places should be made a no-parking zone.
He checked the expiry date of fire extinguishers and tested them by running under his supervision.
He stressed on checking the presence of emergency exit points and making new, if already not there.
He said that even the slightest gap in fire safety arrangements in high-rise buildings would not be tolerated, hence the building owners should ensure implementation on SOPs and in case of any deficiency, business will not be allowed.
The commissioner also visited the State Bank of Pakistan building and checked the availability, functionality and expiry date of fire extinguishers.
