Commissioner assesses progress of road sector scheme under ADP

SARGODHA, Nov 06 (APP): Commissioner Sargodha Division Jehanzeb Awan on Thursday chaired a meeting at the Commissioner’s Office to assess the progress of road sector schemes under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2025-26.
According to a spokesperson for the Commissioner’s office here, the meeting was attended by SE Highways Rana Abid, Director Development Bilal Hassan, Deputy Directors Development, and Executive Engineers (XENs) Highways from Khushab, Mianwali, and Bhakkar districts.
During the session, detailed briefings were given on ongoing and new development schemes. SE Highways Khushab reported that a total of 25 schemes worth Rs. 3.53 billion are included under ADP 2025–26. Of these, 8 projects have been completed, while work on 13 others is currently underway.
XEN Highways Mianwali informed the meeting that seven schemes are part of the ADP portfolio for the district, including four ongoing, two new, and one under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), with a total estimated cost of Rs. 8.42 billion.
 Meanwhile, XEN Bhakkar shared that the district has 47 road schemes under ADP—13 new, one ongoing, and 33 at various stages of execution—with an overall cost of Rs. 7.36 billion. One scheme has been completed so far.
Commissioner Jehanzaib Awan emphasized the importance of ensuring top-quality construction in all development projects to enhance the reputation of the Highways Department.
He stressed that model roads should be built across the region to provide maximum convenience to the public.
The Commissioner also directed that road repair and ongoing projects be prioritized ahead of the upcoming crushing season, ensuring transparent and efficient utilization of development funds.
Commissioner Awan concluded that development projects are a true reflection of public service, and their timely and quality completion remains a key priority of the Punjab Government.
