SARGODHA, Oct 24 (APP):The Department of Soil and Environmental Sciences, University of Sargodha, in collaboration with the Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC), organised a one-day workshop titled ‘The Use of Enhanced Efficiency Fertilizers in Agriculture’.
The event brought together a large number of progressive farmers, fertiliser dealers, researchers, and academicians to discuss sustainable fertilizer practices and innovative approaches for improving crop productivity.
Tariq Javed, Imran Salamat, and Malik Rizwan Farooq, speaking at the event, stressed the significance of Enhanced Efficiency Fertilizers (EEFs), noting that their use not only reduces production costs but also minimizes environmental pollution by ensuring the efficient utilization of nutrients.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf urged participants to adopt resource-efficient agricultural methods, stressing that natural resources are depleting rapidly due to the growing population and urban expansion. He highlighted the need for responsible farming to ensure long-term food sustainability.
Prof. Dr. Ijaz Rasool Noorka, Principal College of Agriculture, underlined the importance of strong collaboration among stakeholders — including farmers, researchers, and industry — to enhance crop yields and strengthen the agricultural sector.
Representatives of FFC management expressed their intent to extend future collaboration with the University of Sargodha for developing innovative fertilizers aimed at addressing food security and safety challenges amid climate change. They also appreciated the dynamic leadership and efforts of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas in transforming the University of Sargodha into one of Pakistan’s leading institutions in agricultural research and innovation.
