Collective measures of sectors crucial for controlling population: Buledi

QUETTA, Nov 27 (APP): Secretary Population Welfare Department Zafar Ali Buledi on Thursday said that to control the growing population, the Social Welfare Department and other partner institutions should work together to create awareness among the public.
He said that growing population causes many problems, while it also has adverse effects on the health of mothers and children.
He said this while addressing a public-private partnership meeting organized by the Family Planning Association and UNFPA.
 The meeting was also addressed by UNFPA Almas, Divisional Director Population Welfare Abdul Sattar Shahwani, Technical Specialist Jamil Ahmed, Juma Khan Kakar, Dr. Maryam Shoaib, Dr. Uzma Sohail, Professor Dr. Ruhana Islam, Dr. Najma Ghaffar, Dr. Ambreen Mengal, Dr. Abdul Sattar, Dr. Sarmad and Director Habiba.
The speakers said that it is the need of the hour to effectively convey the correct message of family planning to the public through religious leaders, preachers, imams and other social leaders.
They said that they would continue their services to convey the message of family planning to the public in a religious, social and moral context so that the foundation of a healthy and prosperous Pakistan could be laid.
The speakers said that family planning is not only necessary for protecting the health of the mother and child but is also the foundation of the sustainable development of the country and a prosperous society.
They said that the Social Welfare Department would take steps to provide family planning related equipment in government hospitals as well as private hospitals because a large number of women turn to private hospitals where they should be ensured of providing information related to family planning.
They said that nursing also needs to be trained in family planning so that they could provide accurate information about family planning to women coming to gynecology wards.
The speakers said that population could also be controlled through telemedicine where population is controlled, maternal and child mortality also decreases.
They said that many problems are arising due to the increasing population, which makes it very important to control the population in Pakistan to deal with.
Secretary Zafar Buledi said that the Population Welfare Department would provide family planning related equipment to government hospitals as well as private hospitals so that they could be provided free of cost to couples seeking family planning.
On this occasion, a Letter of Understanding (LoU) was also signed between Ambrin Mengal of the Social Welfare Department and Dr. Najma Ghaffar, CO of Najma Ghaffar Hospital.
