LAHORE, Jul 14 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif presided over a meeting to review the progress of ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ program, one of the province’s most ambitious housing initiatives for low-income families, here on Monday.
During the briefing, it was revealed that homeownership has become a reality for over 51,911 families, with loans amounting to Rs 60.5 billion disbursed under the scheme.
The CM expressed satisfaction with the progress and directed authorities to accelerate the pace of development. According to the briefing, 45,178 houses are currently under construction, while 6,160 have already been completed.
Talking on the occasion, CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif said every decision under this initiative is guided by a key performance indicator, ensuring the development, protection, and convenience of our people. She added that the vision of PML-N Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to provide shelter to the underprivileged is being actively realized. “When a poor citizen receives the key to their own house, the state fulfills its moral responsibility. This marks the end of conventional politics and the beginning of true public service,” she added.
Highlighting the broader impact of the initiative, the Chief Minister said, “‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ is not just about building structures, it is about rebuilding lives. For the first time in Pakistan’s history, shelter is being provided to the most vulnerable segments of society on such a large scale.”
She said, “I am working day and night to ensure that no citizen of Punjab remains without a roof over their head.”
