LAHORE, Dec 03 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the launch of the “Chief Minister Punjab Honorarium Card for Imam Masjid Sahib,” marking a major initiative to support Imams across the province.
The approval was granted during a meeting she presided over, here on Wednesday, where several important decisions were taken and a detailed briefing was presented.
The meeting decided that the issuance process of the honorarium cards would be completed by February 2026. The CM directed that honorarium payments to Imams will begin from January 1 through pay orders, while all payments from February 1 onward will be made exclusively through the Honorarium Card.
During the meeting, officials informed that the 62,994 registration forms have been received from Imams across Punjab and their verification is underway. They added that any Imam found involved in activities against national interests or implicated in moral or financial misconduct will have their honorarium suspended immediately. The Chief Minister further directed that the registration process should continue without interruption and instructed Assistant Commissioners to hold monthly meetings with local Imams.
The meeting also approved the establishment of Mosque Management Committees and Tehsil Management Committees across the province.
CM Maryam Nawaz directed authorities to continue combing operations in sensitive areas and instructed the introduction of strict legislation against damage to Safe City cameras and government property. She also ordered measures for digital monitoring of individuals listed under the Fourth Schedule and continuation of operations against illegally residing Afghan nationals.
