KARACHI, Jul 04 (APP):In a landmark decision aimed at enhancing government efficiency, Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah has approved the launch of the e-Cabinet App.
This innovative platform is designed to ensure robust security, transparency and environmental sustainability, achieving 100 per cent paperless operations and significantly reducing meeting preparation time by more than half, while also saving millions in government funds.
The CM previously instructed the provincial IT department to develop a user-friendly e-Cabinet App to initiate paperless operations, starting with cabinet work and summaries. Following its development, a detailed demonstration of the app was presented to Mr Shah at the CM’s House, attended by provincial ministers, including Sharjeel Memon, Saeed Ghani, Mukesh Chawala, Jam Khan Shoro, Zia Lanjar, Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, PSCM Agha Wasif, Secretary IT Noor Samoo, Secretary to the CM Zaman Narejo, Secretary GA Mohammad Ali Khoso, and other relevant officers.
CM revealed that the provincial government currently incurs over Rs 11 million annually in paper costs alone, excluding additional expenses such as file covers, boards, fuel, and staffing.
The introduction of the e-Cabinet App is expected to provide crucial advantages, including enhanced confidentiality, security, efficient time management, and a transition towards e-governance, promoting a progressive, technology-driven image for the provincial government. Additionally, the app aims to considerably reduce the environmental impact by minimising the use of paper and related logistics.
The e-Cabinet app will manage the entire workflow for the Chief Minister’s summaries, cabinet meetings, and documentation for the Cabinet Committee on Finance (CCF), as well as meeting minutes.
Key features of the app include a performance dashboard to track key performance indicators (KPIs), comprehensive dashboards for the Chief Secretary and CM providing an overview of all departments, extensive search options by date, subject, or agenda, and the ability to type or attach files in various formats. Furthermore, the app offers customisable approval flows and an offline mode, enabling users to download summaries and agendas for review at any time, even without Wi-Fi.
Designed with essential security measures, the e-Cabinet App marks a significant stride towards modernising governance in Sindh, paving the way for a more efficient and environmentally conscious government operation.
The CM directed the Chief Secretary to suggest necessary amendments in the rules of business so that the e-cabinet App could be made operational.
