PESHAWAR, Jan 21 (APP):Following the directive of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the supply of 136,000 metric tons of wheat has been initiated from the province’s strategic reserves to provide relief to the public.
According to details on Wednesday, the KP government took timely action to cope with the price pressure of wheat in the open market. The wheat supply is being carried out by the Food Department to stabilize prices and ensure food security.
Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi stated that the open market price of wheat in the province surged to Rs 13,650 per 100 kg. To counter this, the KP government will now provide wheat at a subsidized rate of Rs 10,414 per 100 kg.
He further announced that flour, previously sold at Rs 3,020 per 20 kg, will now be available to the public at a reduced price of Rs 2,220. The wheat will be supplied strictly to eligible flour mills and authorized dealers under a transparent and predefined mechanism.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the sale of flour at officially notified prices will be ensured at all costs. District and tehsil-level monitoring, physical verification, and strict action against hoarding and overpricing will be carried out.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the Chief Minister said the provincial government stands firmly with its people, and no compromise will be made on the interests of the poor.
