LAHORE, Jul 07 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed all relevant departments and institutions to remain on high alert in response to the alarming flood situation in the Indus River near District Attock.
The CM directed Rescue 1122, the district administration, police, and other relevant agencies to stay vigilant and ensure immediate preparedness to tackle any emergency. She ordered urgent inspection of all vulnerable sites along the riverbanks, emphasizing that residents in potentially dangerous areas must be relocated to safer locations without delay. The chief minister stressed the need to deploy all available resources to prevent loss of life and damage to property.
CM Maryam Nawaz also instructed authorities to maintain round-the-clock monitoring of the Indus River’s water flow and dam conditions. She further emphasized the importance of keeping the public informed about precautionary and rescue measures.
Rescue teams have been directed to remain on standby, with all necessary machinery and boats readily available for emergency evacuation. She reiterated that the timely evacuation of people from low-lying and high-risk areas must be ensured.
