LAHORE, Sep 05 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister(CM),Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered decisive action against corruption across the province, resulting in the suspension, dismissal, arrest and registration of cases against 54 officers and officials allegedly involved in corrupt practices.
The crackdown has particularly intensified in the Food Department,where 48 officers and officials have faced action over allegations of corruption,said a handout issued here on Saturday.
In Bahawalpur,six Food Grain Inspectors and officials were dismissed from service.
Those removed include Food Grain Inspectors Sajid Mahmood Khan,Muhammad Saleem,Asim Ali, Abdul Rasheed, Muhammad Ishaq and Tariq Rasheed, along with Waseem Talha, Haroon Abdullah and Umar Hayat.
In Gujranwala, Assistant Food Controllers Abu Bakr Raza and Babar Javed, Shafiq, Ansar Butt, Muhammad Nisar, Senior Clerk Waqar Ahmed, Zulfiqar Ali, Muhammad Ali Shahin and Atif Hussain have also been dismissed.
Food Grain Inspector Nadeem Shehzad of Sargodha, Assistant Food Controller Humayun Shaukat Bhatti and Chowkidar Razaqat Ali of Multan, Food Grain Inspector Rana Abdul Sattar of Dera Ghazi Khan and Food Grain Inspector Huzaifa Younas of Gujrat have also been removed from service.
In Faisalabad, action has been taken against PR Chowkidars Allah Ditta, Abdul Ghaffar and Shahbaz Ahmed.
The Food Department has also initiated disciplinary proceedings against 14 Food Controllers over alleged corruption.
They include Muhammad Faisal of Bahawalnagar, Muhammad Muslim of Okara, Abdul Majeed Khan of Narowal, Muhammad Ali of Rahim Yar Khan, Khadim Hussain of Dera Ghazi Khan, Abdul Rehman of Mianwali, Imran Baloch of Sahiwal, Rana Bin Yamin of Dera Ghazi Khan, Muhammad Khalid of Gujrat, Ramzan Sial of Attock, Sidra Meraj of Chakwal, Rana Riaz of Layyah, Ali Imran of Gujranwala, Adeel Ahmed of Bahawalnagar and Khadim Faraz of Mianwali.
Meanwhile, Anti-Corruption Establishment teams have arrested several officials in separate operations.
In Vehari, Union Council Secretary Riaz Ahmed was arrested and a case registered against him.
In Sheikhupura, Senior Clerk Muhammad Ashraf of the Municipal Corporation was arrested red-handed.
In Faisalabad, a trap raid led to the arrest of Computer Operator Zain-ul-Islam and Union Council Secretary Muhammad Aslam, while Ghulam Murtaza was arrested in Bahawalnagar.
In Mandi Bahauddin, Local Government Junior Clerk Mudassar Iqbal was arrested red-handed, while a case was registered against PHA Field Officer Qamar Zaman in Gujranwala and he was subsequently arrested.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the anti-corruption campaign would be taken to its logical conclusion, stressing that “a corruption-free Punjab is our destination.”
